Fanvue’s Follow for Free feature gives people a way to stay connected to a creator without starting a paid subscription. Followers have less access than subscribers, but they can still be part of a creator’s conversion funnel.
Follow for Free can be enabled or disabled
Creators can change the setting under Settings → Creator Settings → Profile. Fanvue says free following is available by default but can be turned off at any time.
What free followers can do
Fanvue’s current help documentation says followers can receive messages, view content made available to followers, see post captions and purchase certain pay-to-view content. Whether followers can send messages depends on the creator’s messaging setting.
What followers do not receive
A free follower does not get access to posts that are restricted to subscribers. Following and subscribing are therefore separate account states rather than two names for the same level of access.
Followers can purchase PPV
Fanvue allows creators to sell pay-to-view content to followers in messages and, where the audience setting permits it, on the wall. This means a person does not always need to subscribe before becoming a paying customer.
Followers can be nurtured toward a subscription
The main commercial value of Follow for Free is that a visitor who is not ready to subscribe can remain connected to the profile. Fanvue’s automated messages and Lists can then help the creator communicate with followers separately from subscribers.
Best Creators tip: give followers a clear next step
If Follow for Free is enabled, publish or message enough follower-accessible material for the feature to have a purpose. A follower funnel with no public/follower content and no communication gives the fan little reason to stay engaged.
This is a Best Creators editorial recommendation based on Fanvue’s current follower tools.
